Danushka Edirisinge

Danushka Edirisinge is the latest awardee of our fine Lindsay cello.
Danushka says his mission is to become a professional cellist, perform as a soloist nationally and internationally and to contribute to society through his passion and commitment to music.
Danushka is ABRSM Cello Grade8 Distinction (2017), Piano Grad8 Distinction (2016), and received distinctions for all grades for both instruments).
His successes include:
  • Membership of the National Youth Orchestra (NYO) of Great Britain 2019.
  • Royal Academy of Music, Junior Department, Intermediate Cello Prize, 2018.
  • Royal Academy of Music, Junior Department, Music Scholarship 2017-date (Cello).
  • ABRSM Silver Award, Grade 8, Piano, 2016.
  • A number of first place awards and trophies at Derby Festival of Music, Rotary Young Musician regional rounds 2010-2015).
  • Member of the National Youth Chamber Orchestra (NYCO) 2018.
  • Member of the Symphony Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music, Junior Department, 2018 – date
  • Member (Principal Cellist) of the Loughborough Endowed Schools, Symphony Orchestra, 2014 -date.
  • Performances at Royal Albert Hall, De Montfort Hall Leicester, Royal Academy.
  • Organiser of Young Musicians Showcase 2018, Loughborough in aid of the charity Papyrus.
