Cherubim is delighted to welcome Dominic Blanchard as the latest awardee of the Collin-Mezin 'Rothermere' Cello.
Suffolk-born Dominic is now at the RCM studying for a Masters degree in performance with Danish cellist Jakob Kullberg, having obtained honours in his undergraduate degree at Kings College London.
He says " When playing the cello for the first time I was aware how the instrument spoke with such clarity that it immediately took potential of my sound to the next level. I am very thankful to the Cherubim for the Collin-Mezin 'Rothermere' cello which I know will enable me to achieve greater things in my musical career than my old cello could have. I am greatly looking forward to playing it in the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra under Sir Antonio Pappano and expect that it will definitely raise my performance as soloist in Saint-Saens Cello Concerto 1 with Lavenham Sinfonia shortly.”
Dominic has played in many student orchestras and is cofounder of Kaleidoscope Ensemble. This year he is performing the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto with the Lavenham Sinfonia.
