Toril Azzalini-Machecler received a special award for for Most Outstanding Performance in the long-deferred Final of the BBC Young Musician 2020. The BBCYM outright winner was another percussionist Fang Zhang who saw off all comers, but the judges felt that Toril’s performance in the Percussion Final (way back last year) deserved a Special Award.
