October/November Awardee News


We were delighted to hear that our "Donovan' baroque viola by Jan Pawlikowski (2020) will be with awardee Oscar Holch in Paris from 14th November- 1st Jan for a production of Händel’s Alcina at the Palais Garnier. Bon Voyage!






Hugo Mak – a recent graduate MA from the Royal Academy of Music, studying bassoon and contrabassoon, is now renting our contrabassoon for an orchestral audition for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. Good Luck Hugo!


Miriam Nohl has been putting the John Corsby Cello through its paces as she has been busy playing in performances of the John Passion with the Figure Ensemble; Haydn's Stabat Mater at this year's Baroquestock Festival (with fellow Cherubim Awardee Gabriella Jones); Handel's Dixit Dominus in Cambridge; as well as a concert of Bach Cantatas with the Hampstead Collective. Coming up in December are numerous Christmas Concerts, including a few Messiah performances and the release of Eboracum Baroque's Messiah CD which was recorded in December 2020.


Anna Grayson is getting a lot of use out of the Lorée cor anglais. Thanks to the Trust’s loan of the instrument, she was appointed earlier in the year as cor anglais player for the Hallé Youth Orchestra, under the baton of Delyana Lazarova. This term the orchestra has been able to meet in full and a much anticipated concert at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester is scheduled for 18th December, to include a performance of Dvorak Symphony No. 9. Anna is also enjoying playing the cor anglais at Junior RNCM, where she is a member of the Sinfonia. Since obtaining Grade 8 distinction in oboe at the end of last year, she has gone on the obtain Grade 8 piano with distinction and Grade 8 music theory with a high merit. She has been selected by Junior RNCM to perform, as one of only two soloists, the modern recorder concerto ‘Moonchild’s Dream’ by Thomas Koppel and will be accompanied in this by a Junior RNCM orchestra in the summer of 2022.


Also, huge congratulations to Katy Baker and Hannah Harding. Katy who has our Cello - Lindsay 'Bolton' recently got her cello diploma results - distinction for her DipABRSM. Well done Katy! Hannah who has our Bassoon – Moosmann, ‘Rothermere-Gosling’

obtained a fantastic ‘First' for her BA Music at Cambridge and is now studying MMus Orchestral Performance at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.
