We are thrilled to introduce Arturo, who is joining the Cherubim team as Deputy Director, responsible for publicising our instrument collection and finding suitable new awardees. He will work in tandem with Michael Maxweel Steer to help develop and grow the Trust.
Arturo is a Venezuelan/British conductor and has a dynamic career as a conductor, cellist and teacher. He is the second generation from El Sistema in Venezuela and was guided in his beginnings by his mother who is a violinist member of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra.
Now based in Sherborne, Dorset, Arturo conducts the Exeter SO, Shaftesbury SO, Dorset County Orchestra and the Orchestra of the University of Bath. He teaches at Sherborne Girls, King’s Bruton and others, with many of his former pupils now studying at world class conservatoires. As a cellist, Arturo has performed across the Americas and Europe & has won many awards.
We are really looking forward to having Arturo on the team.
