Viola (384mm 15 ⅛”) Forster II ‘Poole’
Lucas began learning the violin at the age of seven and, at the age of nine, was accepted into Wells Cathedral School as a violin specialist. At eleven, he began learning the viola and quickly developed a deep passion for the instrument. He is now studying at Wells Cathedral School as a viola specialist.
Over the years, Lucas has achieved success in numerous music festivals and competitions, receiving several first-place awards for his performances.
Most recently, Lucas was named the 2026 Two Moors Festival Young Musicians Competition Winner and will perform at the Winners’ Concert in October. He was also awarded the Gradwell Recital Trophy for the Recital Class at the 2026 Leamington Spa Music Festival.
This summer, Lucas had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Arpeggione Orchestra at Highgate United Reformed Church. His performance was highly praised by Course Director Jacky Woods, particularly for his impressive cadenza. Following his success on the course, Lucas was also awarded the opportunity to take part in a masterclass with renowned violist Timothy Ridout in December 2026.
Cherubim are very pleased to welcome 14 year old Lucas as the first awardee of the Forster II viola kindly offered to the Trust by Mr Jeremy Poole and we all look forward to seeing Lucas continue to grow as a young violist with the support of this beautiful instrument.
