Sophie Sze

Sophie Sze is a violinist and musician currently studying at RCM. She was a music scholar at Sherborne School where she has recently completed her A-Levels with violin teaching under Catrin win Morgan.  She has studied the violin for over 12 years and has achieved LTCL level, alongside ARSM distinctions in piano and singing. She also plays the erhu and has received extensive vocal training.

Sophie’s musical experience spans orchestral, chamber, solo and vocal performance. She was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2025 – 2026, and led her school’s Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Choir. She was also a member of a piano trio, with which she has competed in the Pro Corda competition, reaching the final round. As a soloist, Sophie has reached the national finals of the Rotary Young Musician 2025, competed in the live round audition of BBC Young Musician, and won Taunton Young Musician 2026.

Alongside her performance commitments, Sophie has participated in masterclasses with musicians including Matthew Denton, David Owen Norris, Paul Lewis and Ruth Rogers. She performs regularly in school concerts, both as a soloist and ensemble musician, and sings with the Senior Choir and Madrigals Society. She also volunteers with an orchestra introducing beginner musicians in local primary schools.
