The Moya violin was donated to Cherubim by Peter Caunce before his death in 2025. He had been leader of the second violins of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for many years, and a valued coach with the Merseyside Youth Orchestra. He himself was presented with this violin by someone who heard him play as a teenager, enabling him to go to music college and become a professional musician. He found it so sweet and powerful that he never wished to change it and so continued using it all his professional life. Peter was therefore determined to donate the Moya to Cherubim to allow its richness to be of benefit to future generations of violinists as it had been to him.
