Violinist Abigail Roberts awarded the Bennett violin by Cherubim Music Trust

Cherubim Music Trust is delighted to award the Bennett violin to Trinity Laban violinist Abigail Roberts, a young British musician whose experience spans orchestral performance, recording work and live commercial music.

Abi is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Professor Matthew Denton, and will continue there for her MMus. A versatile and ambitious young musician, her work already spans orchestral playing, theatre, recording sessions, and live pop and rock performance.

Originally from Oxfordshire, Abi began playing the violin aged seven, inspired by her uncle, concert violinist Roland Roberts. She went on to hold music scholarships at Sibford School and Stowe School, win the strings category of Banbury Young Musician of the Year, and achieve Grade 8 Violin with Distinction aged 15.

Her musical journey has since included membership of the English Schools’ Orchestra and CBSO Youth Orchestra, performances alongside Isata Kanneh-Mason and Jessica Gillam, and side-by-side work with musicians from English National Ballet Philharmonic, Welsh National Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the London Mozart Players. She is also a current playing member of the Young Musicians’ Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside her classical training, Abi has a strong passion for pop and rock music. She has performed at venues including the sold-out Electric Ballroom and records regularly at studios across London, including Abbey Road.

As she prepares for orchestral auditions and pursues her ambition of performing in the West End and with leading orchestras, Abi will receive the Bennett violin from Cherubim.

We are proud to support Abi at this exciting stage in her musical journey, and look forward to seeing where the Bennett violin takes her next.
