Dafydd, originally from Carmarthenshire in West Wales, is a London based tuba player. He began his undergraduate studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before moving to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for his Masters.

Dafydd started on trumpet but moved to tuba a few years later and went through the youth systems at Carmarthenshire Music Service and Crwbin Silver Band. He was a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Brass and Brass Bands at both Royal Welsh and Guildhall and as part of his studies he worked alongside professional orchestras including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales as part of the Professional Development Scheme and the London Symphony Orchestra through the Orchestral Artistry program at Guildhall.

Dafydd has a passion for music education working as an educator across London. Whilst studying he has delivered a variety of music workshops through the London Symphony Orchestra Discovery program as well as with his own Brass Quintet Blacksmith Brass.

Dafydd is our most recent recipient of the Cherubim F ‘Charles Steer’ Tuba.
