Cherubim Music Trust is delighted to share a stunning performance from awardee Katherine Payne, performing Pablo de Sarasate’s Jota Aragonesa on the Trust’s Castagneri violin in the Menuhin Hall at the Yehudi Menuhin School.
Filmed during Katherine’s final solo concert at the Yehudi Menuhin School, this performance captures the brilliance, energy and lyricism of one of Sarasate’s most celebrated virtuoso works. Jota Aragonesa is renowned for its dazzling technical demands, making it a fitting choice to mark the end of this important chapter in Katherine’s musical journey.
Katherine performs on the Castagneri violin, generously loaned by the Cherubim Music Trust. Through the Trust’s instrument loan programme, talented young musicians are given the opportunity to perform, study and develop on exceptional instruments that support them at pivotal stages of their careers.

Reflecting on the violin, Katherine said:
“The violin creates such a beautiful sound and I have really enjoyed playing on it so far!”
We are delighted to see Katherine continue to flourish and are proud that the Castagneri violin has played a part in her artistic development. We look forward to following her future performances and wish her every success as she embarks on the next stage of her career.
Watch Katherine’s performance of Sarasate’s Jota Aragonesa and hear the remarkable sound of the Cherubim Music Trust’s Castagneri violin in the wonderful acoustic of the Menuhin Hall.
