Cherubim Awardee Iván Carrillo has enjoyed an exciting and successful summer, performing across Ireland before continuing his studies at two prestigious cello courses.
Performing on the Collin-Mezin cello generously provided through Cherubim’s Instrument Loan Programme, Iván recently travelled to County Wexford, Ireland, where he joined fellow alumni of The Purcell School—now studying at conservatoires across London and Weimar—for a series of concerts organised by soprano Ciara Breen.
The performances took place at St Iberius Church and Kilmokea House & Gardens, and the group also featured on South East Radio during their visit. Following the success of the tour, a further concert series around Ireland is already being planned for December.
Iván is currently attending Hannah Roberts’ residential cello course in Malvern before travelling to the Shkolnikova Academy in France. There, he has already achieved an outstanding result, being awarded Third Prize in the Concerto Competition.
